O Allah, For Your Pleasure!
Was traveling on a bike with a friend on a bright sunny day. We have been thirsty since long but no shops were seen. Throat began to burn and voice shattered. No other thoughts dared to enter mind except the craving for water.
A glass of cold water was dearer than anything else at that moment. At last, we reached a store. The ecstatic feeling after drinking a few sips of water, was beyond words could ever say. Water is dearest to anyone who is worn by thirst. They know the value of every single drop of pure water. For a believer, his love for Allah should be dearer than this. Love towards Allah- it is the rainfall that out-pours onto his otherwise droughty life with guidance and chillness! The life of a believer is an endeavor to obtain the Love of Allah!
Every human is enslaved to certain likes and habits. Those are quite personal. The likes and love of a true believer is different from that of a common man. His love should begin and end in Allah. Whatever Allah permitted are his likes, and whatever He prohibited are his dislikes. A person’s faith will be complete only when he is the owner of his own likes and a slave to Allah’s likes. Our likes should stand where we ordered. And we should stand where Allah has commanded.
Our faith gets corrupted when our likes wander beyond our control. Those who live enslaved to their own likes will never be free from agitations. Those who live surrendered to Allah’s likes will have happiness throughout their life and will feel the solace of his shelter.
Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (May peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as saying that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, thus stated: I am near to the thought of My servant as he thinks about Me, and I am with him as he remembers Me. And if he remembers Me in his heart, I also remember him in My Heart, and if he remembers Me in assembly I remember him in assembly, better than his (remembrance), and if he draws near Me by the span of a palm, I draw near him by the cubit, and if he draws near Me by the cubit I draw near him by the space (covered by) two hands. And if he walks towards Me, I rush towards him. (Muslim Book 35, Hadith No 6471). This is the promise of Allah!
Some of our loves would return to us abundantly than we ever imaged, shedding light into our ways of life- the splendid love that will never be worn out whilst listening and seeing it umpteen times. That is how Allah’s love is.
We should prioritize the love and pleasure of Allah over everything else. That love must inspire us to outlive every disappointments in life, to offer good deeds with a zeal and finally to return peacefully from this world . We must show stubbornness in such a way that our thoughts, sights and words would never drift beyond what Allah loves. Remembrance of Allah must pour in the zeal and solace in every situations. That is why Prophet Ibrahim (AS) could say: “Verily, I am going to my Lord. He will guide me!”(Qura’n 37:99). The remembrance of Allah inspires to refrain from going astray.
Eminent scholar Hatim al-Asamm told: “I knew that my sustenance cannot be eaten by someone else and I am assured, I knew that my duty cannot be done by anyone else, so I kept myself busy with that. I knew that death will come suddenly to me, so I prepared myself for it. I knew that wherever I go I am under Allah’s Eye, so I am always shy of Him” (Min Mavakih Al Hayath: 132).
We would lose many things that we love. But, if we have secured the love of Allah, then that’s enough for us.
