Feel Ramadan – 16) Let us be kids!
How wisely Khalil Gibran said: “You may strive to be like kids, but seek not to make them like you.”
We all are born flawless, with all inner purity. How innocent and virtuous were we when we slipped out from our mom’s womb! Slowly, we began to distinguish between right and wrong. Later learned to live without really caring about rights and wrongs. Have a look at those little tots. How pure and appealing are their styles and behaviors. To learn the purity of minds, they are our best teachers. Always, happiness abide in their hearts. They are ecstatic even in small gains. Quickly they forget sorrows. Their disagreements have a very small lifespan. No hatred or pride live in those charming hearts.
We must know and seek The Most Merciful Lord, with the same purity and innocence of a little kid. We should learn to live, behave and love with the same innocence. In this world where rights and wrongs are entwined, our ways should be that of righteousness. Though, wrongs lie and deceptions live in abundance around us, those are not the real ways of this universe. Those are effects of the lack of wisdom and lessons from experience in us. Wise are those who learned from experiences will never see beauty on the faces but in the hearts. Greatness lies in choosing the right even if wrongs and rights are mixed up. In essence, we can surely attain the innocence of a wee kid.
If our little ones cry and confess in front of us, after committing something wrong, our love towards them increases drastically. We will never tend to reprimand them. This is how The Most Compassionate, The Lord of Worlds Allah shows His mercy when we weep in front of Him in repentance. Mothers can forgive any big crimes that their kids had done to them. Allah’s Mercy is much much higher than this. He is the haven of forgiveness where any cruel sinner can go and confess, anytime. He is the Oft-Forgiving Who waits through nights for the repentance of His slaves for the sins happened in the day time and waits through day to accept the repentance of the sins committed at nights. Mothers, they can forget every of their sorrows with a hug from their child. Then think about the mercy and love of Allah who gifted us with such a mother. Through the acts of worship, we turn into kids again and again. The kids with no tinge of sins in their hearts. Salah, Zakat, Fasting and Hajj call us back to our childhood- the season of inner and outer purity.
Islam is the religion which befriends to the innocent nature of human being. There is nothing called -Islamic sins or Islamic virtues. Rather, Islam points to the law of nature. Whatever would bring harm to us, those are the matters forbidden in Islam. It also taught us that everything that brings goodness is virtue.
Through Surah Rum (The Romans) Allah says:
So direct your face toward the religion, inclining to truth. [Adhere to] the fitrah of Allah upon which He has created [all] people. No change should there be in the creation of Allah . That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know. [Qur'an 30:30]
